Michael Phillip Lulume Bayigga, the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party Deputy President for Buganda region revealed that the declaration of Karua as Persona Non Grata doesn’t represent Uganda as a leading actor in the East African Community, which guarantees the East Africans the freedom of movement.

“I am therefore using the powers as the President of the Uganda's People's Congress. I am going to be calling a National Council meeting this Saturday. We’re going to be discussing the status of the Ugandan People's Congress. We’re also going to be discussing the conduct of the last general election and UPC’s response to that,” Akena noted.

Kizza Besigye, a prominent Ugandan opposition leader and former presidential candidate, was arrested in November 2024 and subsequently faced charges in both military and civilian courts. He remains in detention on charges relating to treason and the alleged planning of illegal acts to overthrow the government.
