President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on world leaders to promote global justice, dialogue, and economic prosperity, warning that identity-driven politics continue to fuel conflicts, destabilize regions, and undermine development.

Speaking at an Iftar dinner hosted for the Muslim community at State House Entebbe, on 5th March 2026, President Museveni urged the international community to work toward fairness and cooperation in addressing rising global tensions.

“I would like to use this season of Ramadan to call upon people around the world to work for justice everywhere and for global prosperity,”  he said.

As Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the President reflected on escalating tensions in the Middle East, encouraging leaders to prioritize dialogue and peaceful solutions.

He emphasized Uganda’s continued friendly relations with countries involved in the conflicts, including Israel, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, and noted his private engagements with leaders to promote dialogue.

The President reaffirmed his long-standing support for a Two-State solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing that mutual recognition between the two sides could help stabilize the region.

“I have always told the leaders involved that both sides should recognize each other so that the two-state solution can work,” he stated.

President Museveni warned that politics based on identity rather than shared interests often prolongs conflict and undermines international cooperation.

Drawing from Uganda’s own experience, he highlighted that sustainable prosperity is built on integration and collaboration.

“As a cattle keeper, I produce milk, beef, and bananas, and my prosperity depends not only on my tribe but on all Ugandans and even the wider region. That is why unity is important as dividing people is short-sighted,” the President explained.

He further urged developed nations to support economic transformation in poorer regions, arguing that global prosperity benefits everyone:

“If you are a smart businessman, why would you want to trade with a poor person? If people have income and wealth, they will buy your products. That is why the world should work towards global affluence,” President Museveni emphasized.

The Iftar dinner brought together Muslim leaders, government officials, ministers, Members of Parliament, and other invited guests, who gathered to break the fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

President Museveni’s remarks show the importance of justice, dialogue, and economic inclusion as key pillars for global peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
