President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to the press statement released the Presidential Press Unit (PPU) on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026,, the appointment was made in the absence of a substantive minister and takes immediate effect.
Announcing the appointment in a letter dated June 22nd, 2026, President Museveni informed Kasolo that he would assume the role of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, pending the presence of a substantive minister.
“In exercise of the powers vested in the President by article 99 (1) of the Constitution, I hereby appoint you as acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the absence of a substantive Minister,” the letter read in part.
Kasolo currently serves as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Regional Cooperation). His appointment places him at the helm of the Foreign Affairs Ministry on an acting basis as the government continues to manage the country’s diplomatic and international engagements.
