General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of Uganda who was also the chief guest congratulated the new crowned King and said he was sure he will do bigger things.
“I have been seeing King Edward Rukiidi Nyabongo I on UBC TV reading news in English and am certain he will make a very good King,” Museveni said.
The president also encouraged all cultural leaders present to enhance local languages because the English language is short of many words.
“The issue of language and culture was neglected and that’s why we need to have it addressed because it is very key in development,” President Museveni noted.
The president also emphasized the role of culture in preventing diseases and preserving morals saying that as cultural leaders they are key in reducing promiscuity thus curbing diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
The coronation of His Royal Majesty Edward Rukiidi Nyabongo I ends a month of mourning of the fallen king Oyo Nyimba Kabamaba Iguru Rukiidi IV and starts a new Era of another grandson of Rukiidi who is set to steer Tooro Kingdom to greater heights and maintain the legacy of his great grandfather’s that started as early as 1830.
