The Office of the National Chairman (ONC), working closely with local National Resistance Movement (NRM) offices, has rolled out an intensive grassroots mobilization campaign aimed at building momentum for President Yoweri Museveni’s re-election bid.
Spearheading the efforts are ONC Regional Coordinator Langol Prossy and NRM Administrative Secretary Joshua Akejo, who are actively engaging executive committee members and mobilizing loyalists across Lango to ensure a strong and united front for the 2026 campaign.
The renewed mobilization comes in the wake of President Museveni picking his nomination forms from the NRM headquarters on June 28, 2025, signaling his intent to contest for a seventh term in office.
His decision has sparked widespread jubilation among supporters in the Lango sub-region, many of whom credit him with delivering peace, infrastructure, and economic growth.
“We are thrilled that President Museveni has decided to contest for another term. He has done more for our region than the UPC ever did, and we believe he is the best leader to take Uganda forward,” Adong Ruth, a former UPC supporter from Lira City said.
In Oyam District, residents like Ogwang Roy celebrated Museveni’s contribution to regional stability.
“He has brought peace and security to our area. We are proud to support him,” he said.
Residents also pointed to development milestones such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the construction of the Akii Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira as tangible proof of the President’s commitment to uplifting northern Uganda.
“The stadium honors a son of the soil and provides a world-class platform for developing sports talent,” a resident of Lira City West said.
Across the region, NRM supporters have taken to the streets, chanting the campaign slogan “Museveni is the Best” and reaffirming their loyalty to the NRM party.
