President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged youth to reject what he termed as “bad opposition politics” and instead focus their energies on wealth creation through government-supported initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM).

The President made the remarks while addressing a public rally at Wampewo Community Grounds in Kasangati, Nangabo Sub-county, during day one of his week-long assessment tour of PDM and other wealth creation programmes in the Greater Wakiso region on Monday 7th July, 2025.

Museveni emphasized that while the government provides social infrastructure like roads, the responsibility of escaping poverty lies with individuals.

“Social services like tarmac roads are ours, but wealth and poverty are yours. Use the peace and available social services to create wealth for yourself,” he told the crowd.

The President particularly appealed to youth in ghetto communities to reject opposition politicians, who he accused of misleading them about government programmes.

He promised financial support to youth groups and also proposed to send some of them to the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi for patriotism training.

The President donated shs6Million to the area LC1 chairperson to help with mobilization and monitoring of government programmes.

President Museveni also visited the home of Isaac Luzze, a beneficiary of the PDM in Kingidde village, Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality.

Luzze, who received Shs1 million from PDM, has since developed a thriving enterprise combining piggery, poultry, coffee, and banana farming on 1.5 acres of land.

Impressed by Luzze’s progress, the President donated Shs24 million to enable him acquire a high-yield dairy cow and a tricycle for transporting animal feed.

Each of the 10 PDM beneficiaries present also received Shs1 million, and the community was promised a borehole to be constructed by State House. Additionally, Kingidde’s LC1 Chairperson received Shs6 million to buy a motorcycle for village mobilization.

Luzze praised the PDM programme, crediting it for transforming livelihoods through accessible seed capital. He urged fellow youth, particularly those idling in urban areas, to return home and tap into available government opportunities.

The President also visited Kagoma United Fabricators’ SACCO in Maganjo Kagoma A village. In 2018, government provided the group with two advanced metal fabrication machines worth Shs1 billion to support local manufacturing.
