Minister Kabyanga’s Daughter Dies at Uganda Cancer Institute

The daughter of State Minister for ICT and National Guidance Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga has died following a battle with cancer.

Phiona Kobusingye Kabbyanga was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer when her condition deteriorated.

She passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Uganda Cancer Institute–Mulago, according to a family announcement.

Minister Kabbyanga confirmed the news in a brief statement on Friday, July 25, 2025, expressing deep sorrow and thanking well-wishers for their support.

“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved daughter, Phiona Kobusingye Kabbyanga. She was a kind, loving soul and fought bravely,” he said on X.

Kobusingye’s body will be laid to rest on Sunday, July 27, at the family’s ancestral home in Rusese Village, Bukonzo County West, Kasese District.

The late Kobusingye is remembered by friends and family as a dedicated, compassionate young woman.

She was in her early 30s and had reportedly been undergoing cancer treatment for several months.

Government officials, clergy, and members of the public are expected to attend the burial.

Details on a memorial service or other funeral arrangements have not yet been released by the family.
