Gulu City is set to host Uganda’s 2026 Inter-Forces Sports and Shooting Championship from August 24th to September 5th, 2026, bringing together personnel from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Service and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
The annual championship will feature football, netball, athletics, volleyball, darts, shooting and other sporting disciplines, with hundreds of security personnel expected to compete in both team and individual events.
Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) is expected to attend the event as the chief guest and the theme of the event will be “Building synergy through sports.”
Organisers said the games are designed to strengthen physical fitness, teamwork and operational readiness among Uganda’s security agencies while promoting camaraderie across the forces.
Col Richard Obura Kidega, the Deputy Commander of the UPDF 4 Infantry Division, while speaking about the preparations, promised efficient security during the event.
“We are ready. We assure you of our total commitment to hosting a successful competition. We also assure you of security, safety and serenity throughout the event,” he said.
Gulu City authorities have welcomed the tournament, saying it will boost local business by increasing demand for accommodation, transport, and hospitality services during the two-week event.
