A fatal accident involving four vehicles, a bus, two trucks and a concrete mixer, has blocked the Kampala-Jinja Highway near Victory Church in Seeta, disrupting traffic flow and forcing diversions on Friday, 29th August, 2025.
The Traffic Police spokesperson of the Directorate of traffic and road safety, SP Michael Kananura, confirmed the crash in a statement on his official X handle, warning that congestion is likely to worsen because of the CHAN 2024 football match scheduled for today at Namboole Stadium.
“The crash has blocked the highway in the area, and traffic is expected to worsen today due to the CHAN 2024 third place play off at Namboole Stadium.” To ensure public safety and reduce congestion, all motorists are advised to use the alternative routes,” the statement read.
Traffic police have outlined several diversions to ensure public safety and ease movement as seen below.
Trucks from the Jinja side are advised to divert at Mukono through Kalagi using the Gayaza–Kalagi interchange, while those from Kampala should use the Kalerwe branch through Gayaza–Kalagi to reconnect to Mukono.
Vehicles from the city center will be redirected to Naalya Roundabout through Kyaliwajjala, Sonde, and Seeta before reaching Mukono.
For motorists approaching from the Mukono side, the alternative routes include Namilyango Road, Namanve Industrial Park, and Jokas to Kinawataka Road to access the city.
Police have urged all road users to exercise patience, adhere to traffic guidelines, and cooperate with officers on duty until the situation is resolved.
