Nairobi, Kenya – The three-day Initial Planning Conference for the 14th East African Community (EAC) Command Post Exercise, Ushirikiano Imara 26, began on November 10, 2025, at the Humanitarian Peace Support Training Centre, setting the groundwork for regional security collaboration.
Delegations from EAC partner states, including Uganda led by Brig Gen Earnest Nuwagaba (UPDF, UPF, UPS, MEACA, Immigration, President’s Office, MODVA, Ministry of Internal Affairs; UPS reps CP Akankunda Apollo Bakwate and SSP Doreen Asiimwe Kazoora), and Rwanda led by Col Moses Kayigamba (Minaffet, RNP, Immigration).
The conference focuses on joint planning for integrated missions in Peace Support Operations, Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Piracy, and Disaster Management to enhance readiness and interoperability.
Running from November 10 to 13, 2025, building toward the main exercise in May 2026 at the Humanitarian Peace Support Training Centre in Nairobi.
To promote regional integration, stability, and effective responses to complex threats amid East Africa’s security challenges.
Through multi-agency dialogues and scenario-based planning, fostering unity under the theme of promoting peace and security.
Uganda Prisons Service noted: “The conference… sets the stage for the main exercise, which aims to enhance EAC partner states’ readiness and interoperability… ultimately promoting regional integration and stability.”
Rwanda’s delegation emphasized “strong partnerships in action” for regional peace.
Participants hailed the forum as vital for interoperability, per prior exercises.
This builds on past Ushirikiano Imara successes, like the 2024 edition in Rwanda.
