The Democratic Front (DF) party has rejected the recently declared presidential and parliamentary election results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC), alleging ballot stuffing and inconsistencies in vote tallying.

According to Mathias Mpuuga, the DF party President, the failure of the Biometric Voter Verification Kit, involvement of the military in the electoral process, installation of polling stations in the barracks, coordination between NUP and NRM to vote against DF and declarations of faulty results by the district returning officers among others are the basis of the party’s decision to reject the EC’s results.

“Malfunctioning of the Biometric Voter Verification kits rendered the entire electoral process incredible and unverifiable because the failure of the biometric Machines led to delays in many areas up to 5 hours, adding that the EC, instead of compensating for the lost time, extended the voting period only for one hour, and this led to the disfranchisement of millions of voters,” Mpuuga said.

He made remarks while addressing the press on Monday, January 19th, 2026, at the DF party headquarters at Namirembe.

However, Mpuuga also accused the National Unity Platform (NUP) of coordinating with National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters to conduct multiple voting in the Masaka areas, with the intent of failing his party members and securing victory in the concluded elections.

“As DF, we inform the country that we categorically reject the outcome of the entire presidential and parliamentary election process, and we are consulting on the steps to take aimed at challenging the process and the outcomes,” Mpuuga said.

The party spokesperson, Moses Kasibante congratulated the 88 party candidates for successfully conducting the campaigns from the first day to date, although none of them made it to parliament.

“The party fielded over 88 candidates, and they conducted campaigns up to the end. They ought to understand that scoring a credit and winning are two different things. Our candidates didn’t win but scored a credit because we are the quality,” Kasibante said.

Mpuuga appealed to the voters to support their candidates at the local government levels to ensure good governance and excellent service delivery.

In 2025, the Democratic Front (DF) party was formed in Uganda by Mathias Mpuuga, the former Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Parliament. The formation of the party resulted from a significant political fallout between Mpuuga and the National Unity Platform (NUP) leadership.
