The Chief Justice of Judiciary of Uganda, Dr Flavian Zeija, has kicked off a three-day visit to courts in southwestern Uganda to engage different judicial officers on matters concerning judicial services.
The visit, which began today, Monday, 13th April, 2026 covers the High Courts in Kabale and Rukungiri, as well as Magistrates’ Courts in Kisoro, Rubanda, Rukiga and Kanungu.
According to Zeija the visit is also aimed at strengthening justice service delivery and enhancing stakeholder collaboration in pursuit of professionalism in judicial processes.
While speaking to the judicial officers at the Chief Magistrates Court in Kisoro, Zeija revealed that his visit provides an important platform for dialogue and firsthand feedback to address challenges and explore practical solutions to improve the administration of justice in the region.
The Chief Justice was received by several judicial officers in various capacities, including Justice Karoli Lwanga Ssemogerere the Resident Judge of Kabale, Lamunu Pamela Ocaya the Acting Chief Registrar, Amoko Patricia the Private Legal Secretary to the Chief Registrar, Tumwebaze Kenneth, the Assistant Registrar of Kabale, Bamuhiga Patrick the Chief Magistrate of Kisoro and Mwesigye Julius the Personal Assistant to the Chief Justice, among others.
The engagement has attracted a cross-section of stakeholders from various sectors, including representatives from the Uganda Police Force, the Uganda Prisons Service, Immigration, the legal fraternity, district and religious leaders as well as members of the public.
Meanwhile, the Judiciary is implementing comprehensive reforms to improve service delivery, aimed at making Justice faster, more accessible and more transparent through digital transformation, infrastructural development and the adoption of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
