The Anti-Court has convicted three Hoima district officials after they were found guilty of forgery.

According to the judgment delivered on Friday, October 13, 2023, three officials, including the District LCV Vice Chairperson Chiche Benson, Secretary for Production Magambo Jackson, and Secretary for Finance Kumakech Geoffrey, were each fined Ugx5million.

Mariam Natasha, the communications manager at the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, said the officials were found guilty of forging executive committee minutes, alleging that they had been authorized to hire out road equipment to private individuals, whereas they were not.

The officials have been on trial since 2021, after they were arrested by police detectives from State House Anti-Corruption.

They were allegedly accused of hiring out district road equipment, including a vibral roller and grader, to a private businessman in Kiryandongo District.

The equipment was recovered and handed over to the Ministry of Works.
