LCI Chairpersons campaigns are in high gear in Kiira Municipality, Wakiso District, as contestants for the LCI chairperson elections continue to register.
Shortly after being nominated at Kiira Division Council in Bulindo, Kiira Municipality on July 18th, 2026, Derick Salongo Lukwago said he has been the LCI chairperson for Nsasa Village for the last 25 years and plans to retire after President Museveni retires.
“I have been the chairperson for Nsasa Village for 25 years, and I promise I will continue to serve the people of Nsasa as long as they give me the mandate to do so,” Lukwago said.

Lukwago, who is contesting on the NRM ticket, said many years ago the issues affecting the people of Nsasa were different, but over the years, things have changed.
“Twenty-five years ago, the issues we used to handle as LCI were minor, such as witchcraft, but now we are active on the Parish Development Model and infrastructure development, as you can see the road network now,” Lukwago added.
Lukwago also said that Nsasa is proud to have three international schools, other “big schools,” and a well-coordinated security network among its 13 independent zones.

According to the Electoral Commission roadmap, voting for Local Women Council leaders will take place on July 23, 2026, followed by voting for Local Council I chairpersons countrywide on July 28, 2026. Voting will be by lining up behind the preferred candidate and will be conducted by Electoral Commission officers.
The Electoral Commission also set July 20–27, 2026, as the official campaign period for LCI chairperson candidates.
