The Head of the Economic Department at the Embassy of France in Uganda, Gregory Sidrac and the Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), John Musinguzi, have initiated talks to sign a bilateral taxation agreement that will improve trade between the two countries.

During the meeting held at URA offices in Kampala on September 22, 2023, the two shared on bilateral cooperation, taxation synergies as well as faster and easier trade facilitation between Uganda and France.

“We realized that we need to have more dialogue and also work on the bilateral taxation agreement so as to explore and extend this working relationship,” Sidrac said.

Musinguzi welcomed the proposition, and praised the positive economic ties between the two nations, noting the importance of the contribution made by French businesses.

Trade between Uganda and France has been growing over the years. Uganda has also been playing host to over 40 French companies including the energy giant, TotalEnergies.
