Museveni, S. Sudan’s Salva Kiir Discuss Strategic Regional Security

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit have extensively discussed regional strategic security measures seeking to stabilize the region.

On Monday, September 14th, 2023, the two held a lengthy bilateral meeting at State House Entebbe.

Henry Okello Oryem, the Foreign Affairs Minister who also attended the meeting, said it focused on key strategic areas, including security, peace, and trade between the two countries.

He adds that the two heads of state discussed the crisis in Sudan and the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Ambassador Joseph Ocwet, the Director General of the External Security Organization, also attended the meeting.

Uganda and South Sudan have numerous and long-standing ties, even when the present civil war in South Sudan has had an impact on Uganda’s economy.
