The Malawian musician, Lawrence Khwisa aka Lulu has already jetted in Uganda ahead of his performance at Maurice Kirya’s concert dubbed Kirya Live 2023, which is set for Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Lulu set off for Uganda on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, and landed at Entebbe International Airport on Wednesday evening, September 6, 2023, to support fellow artist after he received an invitation from Kirya’s management team months back for a live performance in Uganda.
The musician was pleased that he is now growing his fan base by coming to Uganda and is well prepared to impress and sell his music to the crowd.
He added that, he will not perform for Malawians living in the country but for music lovers in general.
“This is a different platform altogether. I will make sure that I give them my authentic Lulu sound and entertain them to the best of my abilities,” Lulu tweeted.
Announcing Lulu’s participation at the concert, soul singer Kirya described Lulu as one of the amazing artists that will grace the concert, adding that Lulu will perform alongside other artists.
Several Ugandans are well versed with Lulu’s songs such as, Ungondibwelezera and Mponyere. Others are, Sindilora, Nsanje, Mwachenjera, Nzalera, Mbeta, Tsogola Langa, Owema, Angampeze Ndani, Adanka Kuti, Mtima Wakana, and Ndzalela, among others.
The Lilongwe-based musician who is also a producer, will share the stage with Uganda’s Ibrahim Soul’O and Aliddeki.
This is the 6th edition of Kirya’s live event that began in 2011, and gained enormous attraction for the soul lovers in Uganda. Kirya said that, they host artists from different countries every time they have this event, and that this is the first time that they will be hosting a Malawian artist.
