A 24-year-old mother in Yumbe district has been remanded after she was charged with the murder of own child.

Police have identified the suspect as Nadio Manjubo, a resident of Chamanikua village, Yayari parish, Lovi sub-county, Yumbe district.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said Manjubo hacked her infant son, Angelo Buga, into pieces, stuffed the body pieces in a saucepan, and boiled them, claiming she felt like eating meat.

“To cut and dismember an innocent child into pieces is absolutely horrific. The crime scene was so disturbing and shows how some parents have lost a sense of humanity and love for their children,” said Enanga.

Enanga urges all parents in challenging domestic settings to always seek help from the Child and Family Protection Unit.

Police said it is painful that the infant died at the hands of a mother who was supposed to keep him Safe.

Manjubo was subsequently arrested, charged before Yumbe Court, and remanded to Yumbe Prison for murder.
