UCC Unveils Nominees for 13th Uganda Film Festival

The Uganda Film Festival has officially entered its 13th edition, with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) releasing the 2026 nomination list, signaling continued growth in the country’s film industry.

The announcement, shared on Friday, April 17th, 2026, on the UCC X official handle, highlights a boost in local content production and recognizes filmmakers driving Uganda’s creative economy.

“We are pleased to unveil the official nomination list for the 13th Uganda Film Festival (UFF 2026),” the commission noted.

UCC said the nominees were selected through a rigorous process and reflect creativity, innovation, and authentic storytelling from across the industry.

“Following a rigorous selection process, the nominees represent the very best of Uganda’s growing film industry, showcasing creativity, innovation, and authentic storytelling,” the commission said.

UCC also called on the public to engage with the festival and celebrate local talent shaping the country’s film landscape.

Meanwhile, UCC spokesperson Ibrahim Bbossa described the nominations as a milestone moment for Ugandan storytelling, noting a significant increase in local productions.

“The curtains are rising on a new era of Ugandan storytelling. Local content has tripled in volume, proving our stories are worth every frame,” he stated.

Bbossa added that the film sector plays a key role in national development, contributing to job creation, tourism, and the broader #ConnectedUg2030 vision.

The Uganda Film Festival remains a key platform for promoting Uganda’s film industry and supporting emerging creatives.
