Police in Kampala have arrested four suspects in separate operations targeting cattle theft and aggravated robbery.

The arrests follow a joint operation conducted on March 7th, 2026, involving police, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and local community members in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District.

The operation was launched after residents reported a rise in cattle theft in the area.

In an official post on X, Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, patrol teams searched crime-prone locations, including Bimbi Swamp, where they recovered a white-spotted heifer believed to have been stolen. The animal has since been returned to its owner.

“During the operation, police arrested Zimbwe Ramathan, a resident of Kyengera, who is currently detained at Kasanje Police Station on charges of cattle theft,” he said.

In a separate incident early Monday, March 9th, 2026, at about 3:30 a.m., three suspects armed with pangas broke into a residence in Kabaale B Ward, Katabi Town Council, and robbed the occupants of Shs570,000 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 mobile phone.

According to Owoyesigyire, the police officers responding to the incident surrounded the house and arrested the suspects after they attempted to hide in the ceiling.

The suspects were identified as Sekitoleko Acram, Oluka Robert, and Mbazira Bashir. Additionally, the police recovered the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Shs240,000, part of the stolen money.

Authorities commended the community for its cooperation, which greatly contributed to the arrests, as Investigations into both incidents continue.
