The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leaders in the Buganda region have rebuked Yusuf Nsibambi who doubles as the party’s chief whip in parliament and Deputy Party President in charge of the Buganda region for meeting President Museveni without party approval.

According to Juma Akankwasa the party Secretary General for Kampala Central, Nsibambi’s meeting with Museveni does not represent the party because he did not seek any permission from the top party leaders.

“As leaders of FDC in the Buganda region, we stand to declare that we are not with him because he went to meet Museveni as an individual. And when you lose an election that doesn’t mean that you change and work with the government. Nsibambi was supposed to get a letter from the secretary general of the party allowing him to meet Museveni but he didn’t bother,” Akankwasa said.

While addressing the press on Wednesday February 11 2026 at the Kampala Central District party office, Akankwasa said that Nsibambi’s quick turn is not a surprise because since he assumed the position of Deputy Party President for Buganda he has been inactive in the party activities, adding that he has never called any meeting in his capacity to address party issues.

He said that Nsibambi’s intent to hijack the party started in the 2021 elections where he didn’t bother to attend the campaign rallies for the former presidential candidate Parick Amuriat, adding that he continued with the same manner to Nandala’s campaigns of 2025 to 2026.

The FDC party  Buganda leadership appealed to the top party leaders to summon Nsibambi to the party disciplinary committee to explain his intentions of meeting President Museveni and also his relationship with the party going forward.

“If the party fails to summon him to the disciplinary committee before this week ends, we are going to take action because we are tired of those people who use the party to secure and protect their gains,” Akankwasa said.

Moses Okwera, a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) also the chairperson of Nakawa on the FDC ticket said that the committee never approved Nsibambi to meet Museveni and all those who went with him did it in their capacities.

According to Okwera it’s time for the clinical officers and other health workers to organise committees that will be handling the post election stress that election losers experience which sometimes affects them in making decisions due to mental stress.

Whereas the top party leadership is still silent about Nsibambi’s move to meet Museveni, many change-seeking politicians have condemned his actions, stating that such moves kill the spirit of opposition in Uganda.
