Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has praised the people of Teso sub-region for the overwhelming support he received during his campaign tour in the region.
Addressing the media on Saturday, 20th December, 2025, at Eneku Training Village in Madera, Soroti District, Kyagulanyi expressed gratitude to Teso residents for their enthusiastic reception.
“Thanks Teso for hosting us this week and for welcoming us with massive support. Wherever we went, we were met by huge crowds yearning for change. You spoke loudly, and as we leave Teso today, I wish all the people of Teso a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026,” Kyagulanyi said.
The NUP leader, who was heading to Ngora and Bukedia, also warned of potential disruptions in Bukedia, the hometown of Speaker Anita Among.
“We have information that Anita Among has organized goons, protected by the police and army, to sabotage our campaign in Bukedia. The EC and Uganda Police know that according to the campaign program I am supposed to be in Bukedia and Ngora today, and I can assure you we are coming,” Kyagulanyi added.
Kyagulanyi has been touring Teso sub-region since Tuesday, 16 December 2025, covering Kumi, Kapelebyong, Katakwi, Serere, Soroti City, Kalaki, and Kaberamaido districts.
Although his visit to Amuria was cut short by time constraints, he wraps up the tour today with stops in Ngora and Bukedia districts.
During his campaign, the most prominent demand from Teso residents was for the NRM government to compensate the people of Teso for their lost cattle.
Campaign grounds across the region displayed placards reading ‘No Cows, No Votes’, a message widely adopted by opposition MPs in the area.
The Teso campaign tour highlights both the enthusiasm for political change in the sub-region and the ongoing grievances over government compensation for lost livestock, which remain central issues in the upcoming 2026 elections.
