Bunyoro Leaders Hail Museveni for Transforming Regional Infrastructure, Expanding Opportunities

Leaders in Bunyoro have lauded President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for championing the region’s transformation through landmark infrastructure projects and policies that have empowered women and broadened economic prospects.

Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja praised the President as a steadfast advocate for women’s emancipation, noting that her own rise from district leadership to the premiership reflects the expanded space for women under his stewardship.

Kibaale District NRM Chairperson Matovu Fred highlighted major government investments including Kabalega International Airport, Hoima City Stadium, the regional public university and improved road networks. He also revealed that 110 acres have already been secured for the proposed Kibaale Industrial Park.

The leaders delivered their remarks on Tuesday 9th December 2025, as President Museveni launched his Bunyoro sub-region campaign at Buyanja Village in Kibaale district, where he confirmed plans for a new industrial park and an additional skilling hub to boost production and harness youth potential.

Museveni said the NRM’s 40-year legacy in Bunyoro is rooted in peace, development and wealth creation. He reminded residents of past ADF incursions in Muzizi, emphasizing that lasting peace remains the foundation of progress.

Responding to claims of regional neglect, the President pointed to key investments such as the Hoima–Kyegegwa road and petroleum infrastructure.

He noted that the forthcoming industrial park requiring about 10 square miles will enhance value addition and job creation, complementing existing parks in Namanve, Mbale and Kapeka.

Museveni further encouraged households to adopt the four-acre model as a pathway to prosperity, citing successful farmers whose livelihoods have improved through NRM-guided enterprise selection and PDM support.

The Speaker of Parliament and NRM Second National Vice Chairperson, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, thanked the President for sustained development in Bunyoro and urged residents to renew his mandate to consolidate the progress achieved.

NRM Western Region Vice Chairperson Jonard Asiimwe pledged to monitor the execution of the new industrial park to ensure timely implementation.
