Police has launched investigations after two of their officers were reported dead under different circumstances on Sunday night.

In the first case, senior police officer SP Christine Agwang, Head of the Child and Family Protection Unit at Katwe Police Division, was found dead at her home in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb.

A close family source confirmed the heartbreaking news on Monday morning, saying, ‘she slept and didn’t wake up.’

By press time, her body remained at the scene as relatives, neighbors, and security officers gathered. The Uganda Police Force has not yet released an official statement on the circumstances surrounding her death.

In a separate tragic incident, ASP Emma Bagenda, the Officer in Charge of Ntawo Police Station, was shot dead on Sunday night while attempting to stop suspicious individuals on a motorcycle.

According to reports, the suspects opened fire at around 10:20pm, killing the OC, injuring a police constable, and escaping with a police-issued firearm.

Authorities have since launched investigations to track down the assailants.
