Kyagulanyi Calls for Unity as NUP Opens Western Uganda Offices in Mbarara

“We got this place when they did not know, we built it, opened it, and we shall go to State House when they do not know. During our campaigns in Western Uganda, this will be our base,” the NUP Party President stated.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, on Friday, 26th September, 2025, commissioned the party’s Western Uganda regional offices in Mbarara City, located next to the Independence Park.

While officially handing over the facility to NUP leaders from the region, Kyagulanyi urged party members and supporters to use the office as a unifying hub for all Ugandans, regardless of tribe or religion.

“This is our permanent home, and we should use it to unite all Ugandans and to call upon everyone to love their country first. When you love Uganda, you will know that all tribes matter, and we are all one Uganda. May this be a reason for hope for all of us,” Kyagulanyi said.

He also applauded his party’s leadership for achieving significant milestones in less than five years, despite operating with limited resources.

Kyagulanyi cited the establishment of NUP headquarters in Kavule, the Eastern region office in Iganga, and now the Western region headquarters in Mbarara, with a Northern Uganda office soon to be commissioned.

“We got this place when they did not know, we built it, opened it, and we shall go to State House when they do not know. During our campaigns in Western Uganda, this will be our base,” the NUP Party President stated.

“In less than 4 years we have done all this with limited resources, we have the biggest Party headquarters at Kavule, Eastern region headquarters in Iganga, Western Region headquarters in Mbarara and soon we shall commission one in northern Uganda,” he added.

NUP Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya, revealed that the Mbarara premises are fully owned by the party, complete with a land title in NUP’s name, and assured supporters that the party will continue unveiling more offices across the country.

“We are very happy to have officially launched our Western region offices. We acquired this place on 21st July, 2024, and here is our land title, we are not renting, just like our offices in Iganga and our headquarters at Kavule,” Rubongoya stated.

“We may not have enough resources, but the little we get, we use wisely. Now we have an office right here at Independence Park, in the heart of Mbarara City,” he added.

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, also addressed the gathering, criticizing the current government for creating a false perception where people think that all people from Western Uganda have benefited more from the government because the current president is from Western Uganda.

“Many people think Western Uganda is better off. But when you go to the villages, the roads are bad, there is no electricity, no clean water, and no jobs for the youth. We all want change as Ugandans, change that benefits everyone,” Ssenyonyi emphasized.

The commissioning of the Mbarara office comes just days after the Electoral Commission concluded the presidential nomination exercise on 24th September, 2025.

Campaigns are scheduled to officially start on 29th September, 2025, with candidates expected to submit their campaign programs for harmonization before the national schedule is announced.

NUP’s Western Uganda regional office launch marks another step in NUP’s effort to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the 2025–2026 general elections, as the party positions itself to challenge for national leadership in the coming months.
