However, another stolen vehicle, a white Toyota RAV4 (UAL 130P), is still unaccounted for.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, the two incidents are linked to aggravated robbery cases reported on May 10, 2025, in Bukasa village, Wakiso District.

Onyango confirmed that Lwanyaga had previously been arrested and released on bond in connection with similar offenses, and authorities believe he coordinated the latest thefts while avoiding police surveillance.

The arrest followed swift action by the Flying Squad operatives, who, armed with CCTV footage, traced the stolen Toyota Harrier to SS Bar and Gardens in Mukono.

Two additional suspects were apprehended during the operation, and remain in police custody at Mukono Police Station.

SSP Onyango urged the public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding Lwanyaga or any suspicious activity linked to car theft.
