Quality Chemical Industries Limited (QCIL) has announced the appointment of Dr Frances Philomena Namatovu as its new executive director, effective April 16, 2025.

Emmanuel Katongole, QCIL’s chairman and co-founder, shared the news during an interview on April 22, 2025, expressing confidence in Dr Namatovu’s ability to contribute significantly to the company’s continued growth and success.

“The board warmly welcomes Dr Namatovu,” Katongole stated. “Since 2020, she has served as the company’s Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance, so her extensive expertise in regulatory compliance, drug safety, and strategic business development will be key to driving QCIL’s continued growth and success.”

He further noted that Dr Namatovu has held key leadership roles at Quality Chemical Industries Ltd., where she successfully guided the company through complex regulatory and business challenges across the East African Community (EAC), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Additionally, Dr Namatovu holds a Master of Science in Drug Development with Bio business from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Manipal University in Karnataka, India, and she is also a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda.

’’Dr Namatovu is a pharmacist with more than 11 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, so I believe she is fit for her new role,’’ the QCIL’s chairman and co-founder noted.

Her appointment marks a significant leadership transition as QCIL continues to expand its operations and commitment to providing affordable, high-quality pharmaceutical products across Africa. The company emphasizes strong quality management systems and regulatory compliance, areas in which Dr Namatovu has demonstrated expertise.

This leadership transition aligns with QCIL’s strategic goals of enhancing operational excellence and sustaining its growth momentum within the pharmaceutical industry.
