The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has heeded the ‘divine instruction’ to deactivate his official twitter account.
The account which earned him more than a million followers in over a decade drawn mainly from his chain of provocative tweets now lies dormant.
The general, in a farewell statement on the morning of January 10, 2025, announced that his decision to exit the platform was entirely divine; from the Lord.
“The time has now come to leave and concentrate on His army, the UPDF,” Muhoozi said.
“At an appropriate time in the future, after fulfilling the Almighty God’s immediate assignment to restore everlasting peace and security to all His people in our region, we shall always reconverge,” he added.
In his tweet, General Muhoozi reflected on his decade-long presence on the platform, describing it as a ‘great whirlwind and rousing journey.’
The general expressed deep gratitude to his followers, assuring them of his love and confidence in their continued support.
Gen Muhoozi’s account deactivation marks the end of his active engagement on the platform, where he often shared updates, views, and rallying messages with his followers since 2014.
His thought-provoking tweets frequently caused a stir, sometimes sparking caution and reactions from different countries.

Notably, his controversial posts about annexing parts of neighboring Kenya in 2022 caused a diplomatic stir, drawing criticism and leading to official clarifications from the Ugandan government.
This is not the first time Gen Muhoozi has deactivated his account.
In April 2022, he deactivated it only to reactivate it a week later. Whether this decision is final or temporary remains to be seen, but it marks a significant shift in his online presence and communication strategy.
