The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has declined several mismatches between reported results and actual results on the ground presented by several Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and local governments, saying that this has affected the accountability of government resources.

Justin Kasule Lumumba, the Minister of General Duties at OPM, made this statement while presenting the ministry’s achievements on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto during the NRM Manifesto week, which was held on December 3, 2024, at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala.

Lumumba revealed that several MDAs and Local Government report wrong results on government implementations in their local areas, stating that this is done to keep the OPM in the dark about the corruption tendencies taking place in these ministries and local governments.

“Most MDAs and Local Government officials overvalue government projects, and so to cover up, they send mismatched results to OPM compared to results on the ground. The solutions to these corruption tendencies are being worked on by the government, and arrests are being made,” she said.

Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda, weighed in on the continued natural disasters and loss of lives, noting that the government is working on the relocation of all people living around mountainous areas to reduce the number of casualties when these disasters occur.

Nabbanja called upon all MDAs in charge of disaster preparedness and local governments of affected areas to sensitize the locals to adhere to early warnings.

“Local and religious leaders should mobilize their people to move once an alarm is made by the government to save lives and property,” she said.
