President Museveni Promotes Five Senior Police Officers

The restructuring is part of a broader initiative by President Museveni to enhance police leadership and operational efficiency within Uganda's law enforcement agencies.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, also the Commander in Chief of Armed Forces (CIC), has promoted five Senior Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP).

The announcement was brought to light by ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the police spokesperson, on the police X handle on December 2, 2024.

“The president has promoted James Apora (director of logistics and engineering), Lawrence Niwabiine (director of traffic police), Joseph Obwona (Interpol), Steven Tanui (fire and rescue services), and Geoffrey Musana to the next rank of AIGP,” Rusoke noted.

According to the letter, Musana has been appointed the deputy director for logistics and engineering.

He extended his congratulatory message to the officers upon their promotions.

In the related development on September 5, 2024, President Museveni promoted seven Senior Commissioners of Police to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP), the highest rank in the Uganda police force.
