In a major move, the Football Association (FA) has appointed former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel as the new head coach of the England national football team. Tuchel replaces Gareth Southgate, whose tenure ended after England’s disappointing exit from the recent European Championship, and thus he becomes the third foreign coach after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

In his first press conference as head coach, Tuchel, who has signed an 18-month contract with the Football Association (FA), expressed his excitement and honor at being chosen to lead the Three Lions and will start his work as head coach come January 1, 2025.

“I am sorry that I have a German passport. All of these supporters felt my passion for the Premier League and the country. I loved to live here. It’s a dream come true to manage a team like England,” he said.

Tuchel expressed his passion and support for English football fans, saying, “I have always admired the passion and support of English football fans, and I’m eager to make them proud.”

Mark Bullingham, the FA’s chief executive, explained that Tuchel’s experience, track record, and tactical ability made him the ideal candidate to guide England to future success.

“We believe that Thomas has the qualities to take our national team to the next level,” Bullingham stated.
