The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General (SG) Richard Tadwong has encouraged student leaders from the Makerere University NRM chapter to identify themselves as future leaders early enough and work on bettering their leadership skills.

He relayed this information to the students during the MAK NRM Chapter chapter handover that took place on September 6, 2024, at Makerere University.

The NRM SG, who was the chief guest of the handover, stated that NRM interests itself with well-groomed leaders, stating that the party’s first choice of recruitment for leaders is with education institutions like universities.

“When you decide to become a leader in university, always have a long-term goal of being a leader post-university and work to improve your leadership skills. Most NRM leaders were once leaders in universities. This should encourage you all to identify yourselves and be able to lead your people back home,” Tadwong revealed.

Lt. Col. Allan Kitanda, the Deputy Board Chairperson of Wazalendo Sacco, an invited guest, said that they should associate themselves with study groups and progressive forces that will lead to the development of the country.

“Once you associate yourself with a progressive force like the NRM, we shall go ahead and recruit you as our future leaders. The NRM recruitment process is easy; we have cadre identification, cadre recruitment, cadre education, and cadre placement. So if you don’t associate yourself with us, then we can’t identify you,” he noted.

During the handover, which attracted all NRM student leaders from universities in the country, the former Chapter Chairman Robert Ankunda urged the newly elected Chairman Edmond Ariho to uphold dignity and integrity while in the office and to recruit more potential student leaders to the party.
