The Uganda National Drug Authority confirmed this development, saying some of the drugs were expired, which raised questions about plans of rebranding and selling to the general public.

“Some of the drugs had expired, raising suspicion of the intention to rebrand and sell to unsuspecting members of the public, especially those who buy drugs from unregulated markets,” UNDA stated.

UNDA called upon the public to be vigilant and report any questionable drug-related activity.

In August, UNDA seized 151 boxes of assorted medicines worth Shs40 million and shut down 59 outlets in West Nile during a week-long compliance operation.

The operation targeted illegal drug outlets in five West Nile districts: Koboko, Maracha, Obongi, Yumbe, and Arua.

The seized assortment included government of Uganda drugs and drugs imported from the DRC.
