In the second episode of TEARS AS HUSBAND ABANDONS WIFE TO BATTLE TRIAL OVER FAKE MARRIAGE, I shared with you how my husband abandoned me after our wedding and how I appeared in court for a hearing. In this third and last episode, I bring you the end of the unforgettable situation I found myself in.

As requested by the Presiding Magistrate, we appeared in court, and Robert was present as well. At this point, I was disgusted by anything that had to do with Robert and Harriet. A mere glance at the two people who seemed determined to make my life a living hell made my “heart boil.”

Harriet was called to testify, and as I expected, she put all the blame on me, saying I had “snatched” her husband. She talked with a lot of anger in her voice, and all that came out of her mouth was “venom,” which gave my lawyer a chance to pin her and lose her cool. To my advantage, this is when she called me all sorts of names. The magistrate kept on warning her to respect his court, which gave me hope.

Robert was called to testify, and good thing my lawyer trapped him; at this point, he had no escape. The evidence was there for both our traditional and church weddings. Up until now, I have asked myself why he let this woman drag me to court.

I was called to testify, this time in the presence of Robert, and I told the court how everything had happened. The court went into recess for an hour, and it was time for the magistrate to give his verdict.

He said that he was shocked that we could not sort the matter outside court. All of a sudden, Harriet got up and requested that it would not be necessary for the magistrate to give his ruling. I believe her lawyer advised her to do so.

She told the magistrate that the three of us were going to settle the matter out of court. It was jubilation in my heart because I knew that I had won the case and battle.

We agreed to meet at my lawyer’s office the next day to put all this to an end. Robert agreed to leave the house to me and the children and provide monthly upkeep and school fees for the children.

I agreed to all this because, in any case, due to his betrayal and lies, I felt it was time for me to close this chapter of my life and open a new one.

Finally, I was relieved of a problem that had given me sleepless nights. My advice to young women and men is never to be deceived by looks or profession when choosing a life partner. I leave you with this proverb,” Oshweera abuuza!” meaning inquire or make consultations before getting married, and have enough information about the person you are marrying.
