Police in Lira City have arrested three people for allegedly attempting to bribe a Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Scout as 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), begin today Monday, November 3.

The suspects; Odongo George, Ekut Simon (32), and Awoko Lavoiser (26) were arrested at Garden Hotel in Lira City after allegedly offering UGX 1 million to a UNEB scout (names withheld) based in Oyam District, in an attempt to influence the conduct of the national examinations.

According to Assistant Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, the arrests followed a tip-off that led to a successful operation in which relevant evidence was recovered.

ACP Kituuma warned anyone planning to indulge in any form of examination malpractice.

“It is an examination issue but it will end at the Police station if you try to go against the laws governing the process,” he cautioned.

He confirmed the arrests during the weekly police presser on November 3, 2025 at Police Headquarters in Naguru.

The Uganda Police Force called on political candidates and supporters to avoid holding campaign events near primary schools to prevent disturbances.

“We call on all individuals to refrain from any actions that may violate the law or compromise the integrity of the examination process,” Kituuma said.

Thousands of Primary Seven candidates across Uganda are sitting for their final examinations over the next two days under tight security. Police have encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activities that could undermine the credibility of the exams.
