The Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Internal Affairs is conducting its oversight work on different security agencies, including the Uganda Police, UPDF, and Uganda Prisons Service, among others, in the move to crack down on corruption following President Museveni's war against corruption in Uganda.
Oyat warned that commuters are already stranded and fares are rising because no immediate alternatives have been provided. She urged the government to temporarily deploy institutional buses to ease the shortage, especially ahead of schools reopening.
“It is illegal for private individuals to install sirens or use escort vehicles to force their way through traffic. The right of way is only provided for the State motorcade, the Vice President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, the Chief Justice, ambulances and emergency military vehicles. Ministers do not have the legal right of way,” Kananura noted.
