The NDC ruling lists 14 offences under the UPC disciplinary code, including participating in factional activity that affects the unity of the party, acting against the decision of the constitutional structure, infiltrating the party, or acting on behalf of or in collaboration with other organizations, parties, or groups hostile to UPC's objectives, and setting up and participating in parallel structures, arrangements, and groups parallel to duly established structures.

UPC also asked boarding schools in Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso and surrounding areas to agree to flexible payment plans with parents rather than sending children home. 

UPC urged government to reconsider the welfare of medical interns within the broader context of strengthening Uganda’s health system, arguing that realistic measures are needed to restore stability to the medical profession and reduce the frequency of industrial action.

The spokesperson said the new arrangement breaks with previous practice, under which government catered for these necessities and paid monthly internship allowances. She added that it also undermines the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which provided for enhanced allowances and better welfare for health workers.

“By lining up behind a candidate, we feel it is more inclined in creating issues within our communities, including violence… we are saying electoral commission should reconsider and turn this election into a separate ballot, rather than lining up behind a particular candidate for the sake of unity and patriotism of Ugandans,” Oyat said.

“As PPF, we are concerned with Museveni’s forthcoming swearing-in ceremony, which has caused roadblocks on Kampala roads after what he called an overwhelming victory in the recent elections. This is the time for the country to rise because his 5th term in power is going to be the worst for Ugandans,” Ssemuju said.
