The leaders of these pressure groups have since accused the DP party President, Norbert Mao of being a traitor after he allegedly abandoned the true opposition principles of the party, especially when he decided to share the bed with the ruling NRM, something that revealed his self-seeking character.

“We have lost many who have never been seen like Kibalama, many of our comrades have been arrested and tortured and have spent six years in prison and many continue to be detained like Alex Waiswa, Olivia Lutaaya, Doreen Kaija and others. I want to request you to reject the diversions and divisions and there is no turning back we have to sail on and victory is in sight and we are closer to victory, don't give up,” Kyagulanyi added.

“We have been complaining about how bad those fronted by other parties are. Today, we have decided to front our own, the holy one, to represent the opposition in the forthcoming speakership race. I implore all opposition members of Parliament to rally behind our candidate,” Ssenyonyi said.

“Having ensured that NUP didn't get support from the National Consolidated Fund, they went back to the drawing board to come up with the evil scheme in the name of the Protection of Sovereignty Bill. We want to call upon the people of Uganda to take interest in this bill and deny it,” Katana said.
