ULGA is an umbrella body of district chairpersons, city mayors and municipal mayors. It was established in 1994 with Kiwanuka Musisi being the body’s first president.
The government has over the years attracted huge foreign direct investments to the economy, which has led the GDP to grow very fast with inflation being at single-digit 3%, which is a sign of a stable economy.
The merger is a strategic move to consolidate resources and enhance the effectiveness of government planning and population management efforts in Uganda.
