The Parliament of Uganda is set to hold four regional sittings, with the first one starting on August 28, 2024, at Kaunda grounds in Gulu, and they are to hold other sittings in Mbarara, Mbale, and Masaka. Each sitting is to cost over UGX 5 billion, and many people have criticized the relevance of these regional sittings as they seem not to have a direct impact on the constituents.
The NRM party showing the will to fight corruption by arresting legislators who had not received the bribe yet, but leaving those who sat and shared billions amongst themselves with impunity is not a good gesture but will instead look as playing on the minds of the tax payers.
“When I was still COSASE chairman, we embarked on an investigation into the Microfinance Support Center. We immediately discovered that Hon. Haruna Kasolo, Minister of State for Microfinance who supervises the entity, had given himself 2 billion UGX.”
The issues of evictions don’t discriminate against political affiliations, and the issues of violating the rights of Ugandans don’t bother about political parties because when such a day comes, all face the wrath.
