President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign trail turned massive on Monday, 3rd October, 2025 as tens of thousands of energized residents flooded rally grounds in Soroti and Serere districts chanting his name, waving NRM flags, and declaring their unwavering support for his 2026–2031 bid.
In a charged atmosphere marked by drumming, ululation, and dancing, Museveni while addressing the rally at Soroti City play grounds, announced a new wave of government investments aimed at transforming Teso promising more schools, improved water access, and wealth creation initiatives.
In Soroti City, Museveni fired up the crowd with a message anchored on wealth creation, urging residents to focus on income-generating activities.
“Do not farm for the stomach alone, farm for money,” Museveni told the cheering crowd.
He emphasized that through government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), every household must engage in profitable enterprises like commercial farming, irrigation, and value addition.
Museveni reassured residents that NRM will continue expanding roads, schools, and water systems to unlock economic opportunities in Teso.
The excitement grew even bigger in Serere, where women and youth leaders stole the show as they gave emotional testimonies about how government programs changed their lives.
President Museveni also announced plans to create a special funds to support various wealth creation activities of fishing comminities.
Minister of State for Fisheries and Serere Woman MP, Hellen Adoa, charged the rally with a powerful speech celebrating Museveni as the champion of women’s empowerment.
“When I was 23, I built five schools. Peace made it possible. President Museveni freed women to dream and achieve,” she declared.
Adoa revealed that 6,000 youth in Serere have already benefited from government support, including UGX 300 million secured to help young people start businesses.

She also confirmed what residents have waited decades to hear:
“The Kumi–Tapar–Serere road has finally received funding for tarmacking!”
The announcement triggered wild celebrations.
Museveni highlighted the government’s commitment to free primary and secondary education, insisting that no Ugandan child should be left behind.
NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong told the supporters that the massive turnout was proof that the people still believe in the NRM’s vision.
“We are not angels. But we continue correcting mistakes and delivering development,” he said.
