The Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) has announced a temporary suspension of the MV Laropi Ferry, which links Moyo and Adjumani Districts via the Laropi–Umi route for routine works.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 3, 2025, MoWT Permanent Secretary Bageya Waiswa explained that the closure, scheduled for November 10 to 28, 2025, will allow the Ministry’s technical team to carry out periodic maintenance aimed at enhancing the ferry’s safety and reliability.

The works are described as a “stop-gap measure” ahead of a more comprehensive rehabilitation of the vessel.

During the maintenance period, travelers are advised to use alternative routes: Kampala – Moyo – Yumbe – Koboko – Arua – Karuma – Gulu – Atiak – Adjumani, or Kampala – Moyo – Obongi – MV Obongi Ferry – Adjumani.

The Ministry apologized for the disruption and urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.
