The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), working with Uganda Police, has arraigned three suspects before the Sironko Chief Magistrate’s Court over mismanagement of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds.

Mariam Natasha, the communications manager at the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, identified the suspects as Patrick Benerd Mukota, the Busita Sub County LC 3 Chairperson, Hellen Nambozo, and Eddy Magomu.

According to Natasha, the three are accused of unauthorized use and interception of computer services and theft.

“The accused and their accomplices, who are still at large, utilized a SIM card registered under Magomu Eddy’s name to fraudulently obtain UGX 5 million from the PDM Wendi App accounts of five victims,” Natasha said.

She said that the victims received messages informing them that money had been transferred to their accounts; however, it was later withdrawn.

She added that the victims reported this matter to the RDC of Sironko District, who forwarded it to the Parish Development Model Secretariat, which requested the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to investigate the matter.

The suspects were remanded to Luzira Prison until March 21, 2024.
