The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has warned Head teachers and school Directors against disrupting examination conduct by not settling school fees well ahead of the candidates’ examination dates.

Dan Odongo, the Executive Director of UNEB, made the communication on behalf of UNEB during his address to the media at Uganda Media Centre on November 7, 2023.

According to Odongo, disrupting an examination to remove candidates on the basis of fees balances is a criminal offence under section 30(1) of the UNEB Act 2021.

“The Board also encourages parents to meet their fees obligations in the understanding that in order to run an entity such as a school, funds are needed and they are got from the school fees paid,” Odongo said.

Lower level examinations commenced this week with the briefing of Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) candidates on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, while the briefing of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) candidates will be conducted on Friday, November 10, 2023.

The PLE candidates will write their papers on November 8-9, 2023, while the UACE candidates will write their papers from November 13-December 1, 2023.
