The Deputy Director General of Internal Security Organization (ISO), Lt. Col. Emmy Katabazi has urged security officers to embrace ideological consciousness in order to protect the national values and interests.

Lt.Col.Katabazi was on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, delivering a special presentation on the importance of joint operation by the different security agencies to over 240 security officers currently attending a four month ideological orientation at Oliver Tambo School of leadership and Pan African Center of Excellence, Kaweweta.

The trainees are drawn from Prison Service, Police, and UPDF soldiers from ISO and other units.

In his message, Lt. Col. Katabazi told the trainees to undertake the importance of joint operation in their daily performance to avoid competition as they continue to serve national interests.

“When you coordinate with other security agencies while executing your roles and duties, you avoid competition and in the end you can successfully achieve the missions,” Lt. Col Katabazi said.

Lt. Col. Katabazi cautioned the cadres against conflict on each other, saying that it frustrates their efforts to protect national interests.

He further cautioned the officers to remain vigilant against the subversive activities by the enemies of Uganda in order to maintain peace, and security as strategic economic drivers.

According to Katabazi, intelligence sharing and coordination among all security agencies is a key driver to foster stability in the country.

Regarding mind-set change, Lieutenant Colonel asked the officers to promote the right ideologies as per the intentions of the President of the Republic of Uganda including patriotism, democracy, social-economic transformation, nationalism and Pan-Africanism.

In his welcome remarks, the Commandant of Kaweweta School of Leadership Col. Justus Rukundo said that the course is designed to equip the trainees with effective ideological orientation in transforming communities.

Col. Rukundo also called for the preservation of conscious discipline for the protection of peace by all the sister security forces.

He called on every officer in their various capacities to engage in ideological training and defeat the enemies of peace and development.

The core duty of the school is to teach and train the Defence Forces’ Leadership and prepare them ideologically so as to have the necessary competences to conceptualize, analyze and understand the Global Dynamics of yesterday, today and project the possibilities of the tomorrow.

This is important for today’s Leaders, Military or civil, so as to ably manage the Human material and Financial Resources available to any globalized environment and resources.
