President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commended Pastor Robert Kayanja for combining Christian ministry with agricultural production and community development, while backing calls for deeper African integration.
President Museveni made the remarks on Sunday, September 27th, 2026, while presiding over the Big Fix Holy Spirit Global Conference at Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga, Kampala.
The seven-day conference that ran from September 21st to 27th, 2026, and hosted by Robert and Jessica Kayanja Ministries, brought together Christian leaders and participants from Uganda, across Africa and beyond.
Museveni said he was encouraged by discussions on political integration in East Africa and the wider African continent.
“I am very happy to hear Pastor Kayanja and other pastors talking about integration of Africa, political integration of East Africa. It is all music to my ears,” he said.
He praised Kayanja’s agricultural initiatives in Karamoja and Kiryandongo, saying they demonstrated the importance of turning ideas and resources into productive ventures.
The President also used the occasion to reiterate his emphasis on production, prosperity and regional trade. He said Uganda’s increased output of commodities such as coffee, milk, maize and bananas made access to regional and continental markets increasingly important.
On prosperity, President Museveni said Africans must focus on creating wealth through production rather than depending on handouts.
“You cannot achieve prosperity by begging. You need to produce a good or a service and sell it. That is how wealth is created,” President Museveni said.
He said this thinking informed the emphasis on patriotism, because economic progress requires people to trade and work across ethnic and regional boundaries.
“That’s why we embraced patriotism, love for Uganda not just as sentiment, but as a strategic necessity,” the President said.
Museveni called for stronger implementation of the East African Common Market and deeper integration in areas including defence, foreign policy, citizenship and trade.
“When I came here and heard Pastor Kayanja talking about African integration, I said, ‘Praise the Lord,’ because we have already started the AfCFTA,” Museveni noted.
The President also pledged UGX 2 billion to a Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) formed by pastors.
Kayanja thanked Museveni for attending the conference and said the gathering attracted participants from several countries, including the United States, China, Germany, Kenya and Tanzania.
He also announced plans for a UGX 5 trillion “Cow Bank” initiative aimed at increasing milk production through organised cattle farming.
President Museveni later launched three books, including Smile Karamoja: From Hunger to Hope and Harvest.
