The Uganda Police has assured all Uganda Cranes fans intending to support the national team as they face Algeria on Monday evening, June 10, 2024, of maximum security at Mandela National Stadium-Namboole.
SCP Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, during the weekly security presser held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the police headquarters in Naguru, urged all Ugandans and the team’s fans to attend and support the national team as the police will give maximum security.
“As you supported the Cranes in their win against Botswana on Friday, June 7, 2024, I ask you to come in big numbers tonight and support our Uganda Cranes against Algeria,” Enanga said.
Enanga, however, urged the supporters and soccer fans to remain peaceful and disciplined.
“As Uganda Police, we assure all supporters of tight security, and we also ask you to remain peaceful and disciplined as you head to the games, during and after,” Enanga added.
The Uganda Cranes, who have already enjoyed a home advantage with a 1-0 win against Botswana, will face the North African giants, Algeria, at 7 p.m.
Algeria is currently at the top of Group G, with the same points as the Uganda Cranes but a slight goal difference.
The Uganda Cranes, led by Paul Put, have returned to Mandela National Stadium-Namboole after five years, when the stadium underwent renovations.
Put has assured Ugandans that the team will use their home advantage to secure a point, as many visiting teams have always found playing at Namboole hard for them.
