The leadership of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), led by Erias Lukwago, the interim party President, has declared a prayer week for Besigye and other political prisoners from different opposition political parties.
While addressing the press conference held at PFF offices at Katonga Road on Monday, November 17th, 2025, Lukwago has not only called upon all change-seeking forces but also the entire citizenry to join them to pray for Besigye and seek the release of all political prisoners in Uganda.
“As the leadership of PFF here at Katonga, we have decided to declare a Besigye prayer week starting from today,” Lukwago said.
He also called upon opposition political parties, such as NUP, to always hold a moment of prayer for Besigye and other political prisoners during their campaigns in different areas of the country.
“We call upon all peace-loving Ugandans in all your prayers, private and public, to have Dr Besigye at heart and all political prisoners, and we ask you kindly to hold a moment of prayer for Besigye at all your political campaign rallies,” Lukwago said.
He, however urged opposition candidates to continue preaching the message of freeing all political prisoners during their campaigns.
After, the briefing followed a courtesy visit to Luzira for prayers and thanksgiving with Dr Kizza Besigye.
Besigye, marks one year in prison after his arrest in Kenya on November 16, 2024, after being accused of possessing illegal firearms and attempting to destabilize Uganda’s security. He was charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
