The 9th edition of the Nyege Nyege festival has kicked off on Thursday, November 14, 2024, with organizers at their best to electrify revelers and make their memories with incredible performances, unique art, and a positive vibe. This year’s edition will run up to Sunday, November 18, 2024.
While speaking to our reporter, Aly Allibhai, the Nyege Nyege CEO and Executive Producer, said that the 9th edition will be a different experience with its convince being located around the city.
“The gates opened earlier today at 4:00 PM; it is a beautiful day. The seven stages are all ready, like the Reggae stage, the cultural stage, the Hakuna Kulala stage, the Uganda Waragi stage, and many more with different vibes and different experiences, till Sunday morning,” Allibhai said.
Security has also been hiked to ensure a secure environment for the revelers at Uganda’s Nile and the surrounding areas.
The 2024 9th edition is running under the theme Afrogalactic Carnival, blending music with ancestral traditions, and will take place at a brand new site on 12 acres at the Source of the Nile, Njeru. The new venue is intended to provide festivalgoers with a more convenient experience, eliminating the need to walk long distances between stages.
