Brazilian footballer Neymar Junior has joined Saudi Arabian giant Al-Hilal on a two-year contract.

The former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward had been linked to the club last summer, and he joins Al Hilal for a fee of £258 million.

The 31-year-old Brazilian joins the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kerim Benzima, Sadio Mane, Ngolo Kante, and Riyad Mahrez, among others.

Al Hilal finished third last season and is currently number two on the table, having won their opening game against Abha on Tuesday evening.

Neymar sounded excited to be playing in the Saudi Pro League and hopes to win titles with Al-Hilal this season and the ones after.

“I am excited to join Al Hilal and I know that Al Hilal is a big club with a great history and I am confident that we can achieve great things together,” Neymar said

Al Hilal’s chairman, Turki al-Sheikh, said: “We are delighted to welcome Neymar to Al Hilal. He is one of the best players in the world, and he will be a great asset to our team. We are confident that he will help us achieve our goals.”

Neymar Junior’s move to Al-Hilal is a momentous occasion that transcends mere player transfers.

As the world watches closely, this move could very well pave the way for the Middle East to become a football powerhouse.
